A Fashion Attack?. The Retro Is Back

Posted on September 8th, 2010 in Google Trendz by admin

There is nothing better than getting great deals on the latest, cutting edge fashion. Apparel and accessories go in and out of season constantly, therefore its always important be cautious of what you are purchasing, where you buy it, and especially how much these items are worth!

It is such a disappointment to see so many stores increase their prices on the newest fashion trends. For example, one of the most popular fashion “must-haves” are currently leggings. Yep, those horrible spandex fit pants that my mom used to wear in the 80′s; along with scrunchies in her hair and neon colored sunglasses much like the black ones that Tom Cruise work in the 1983 movie Risky Business. Gah, I remember laughing at my mom when she showed me those pictures of her wearing those ridiculous clothes. But now, that retro 80′s look has bounced back into the spotlight!

Leggings, retro shades, and neon colored tops can be found in almost any retail store, but many merchants are charging way more than what its worth. I would never spend more than 10 dollars on a pair of leggings because they will eventually go out of style, plus the material is thin and can be worn out quite quickly.

There is no better place to purchase those 80′s style leggings than Forever21. I prefer to shop at Forever21 because they have an endless selection of cutting edge fashion that is well-constructed and affordable.

Forever21 has a huge selection of leggings that range from a variety of bright neon colors, to animal print designs. With Forever21 Coupons, I was able to find deals on leggings for under $10!

Other retail stores are selling leggings for double the price, and they have less of a selection to choose from. I found the best selection of neon fashion tops, retro shades, and 80′s style leggings all under $21 with Forever21 Coupons.

Now, every teen is walking around in these 80′s retro leggings and sporting the old school Risky Business shades. It’s a neon color attack, plus the leggings are back!

Teryl Resources Turns Drills to Historic Gold Hill

Posted on September 8th, 2010 in Google Trendz by admin

When Teryl Resources Corporation (TSXV: TRC, Pink Sheets: TRYLF) became interested in the Gold Hill Prospect near Bisbee, AZ, they were following a pretty strong lead – Historic Gold Hill, at a 5491-foot elevation, looks out for miles over the Warren mining district, a famously ore-rich region of the Southwest. Phelps Dodge Corporation’s Lavender Pit mine, only 4 miles to the west of the project, is one of the most productive copper mines in history, producing over 75 million tons of copper ore from 1954-70, and in excess of $1B in copper, gold, and silver.

Preliminary geophysical and geological testing on Teryl’s properties in the region has been promising, and the company has recently signed a contract to begin drilling.

Teryl Resources turned an eye to the Gold Hill prospect in the summer of last year, and a number of indicators immediately urged closer inspection. A report by Frederic Rothermel, PhD, outlined a pattern of mineralization that moved from copper-rich/gold-poorer at the centre of the system to gold richer/copper poorer at the fringes – this pattern is consistent with features of the Carlin Trend in Nevada, which contains over 100 million ounces of gold in proven and probable reserves. This zoning pattern at Gold Hill is unique to the Warren mining district. Geophysical parallels to Lavender Pit are numerous, and further geological testing revealed significant gold values and a copper presence of up to 3% in surface assays.

John Robertson, President of Teryl Resources since 1982 states: “The Gold Hill project is an area which may have the potential to be developed into a large lode-type copper deposit. Our geologist feels that the anomaly is similar to that of the Copper Queen deposit (Lavender Pit).” With regard to possible quantities on the property, according to Robertson, “The sky’s the limit.”

The geophysical parallels to nearby producers are strong and compelling, but there are indicators that this is an unusually rich deposit area for the region. “One of the interesting parts of the property,” says Robertson, “is that not only does it have very similar geophysical data (to the Copper Queen), but when the previous work was done on these targets from the Lavender Pit property and the Phelps Dodge properties, they didn’t get any surface assays – they drilled it based on geophysical data. With our particular property we actually got some pretty high-grade values on the surface, which is very unusual for that area.”

This indicates that the deposit could be even richer than the neighboring targets: “It’s a better target, when you have not only the geophysical targets, but the geochemical targets as well.”

Developing claims in an historic mining district has obvious infrastructural advantages: “(Gold Hill) is very close to previous producing mines, so there is the infrastructure there.”

The property at the Gold Hill prospect currently comprises 248 acres, and the company is actively acquiring an additional 640 acres as drilling begins.

“The time to really capitalize on a stock is before the drilling commences,” says Robertson, “Once Teryl starts drilling, then the anticipation of good results will increase the value of the stock. And if the results turn out to be positive, you could see the stock increase several-fold. The key time for investors to buy shares of a resource company is before the drilling program.”

Alaska

Teryl Resources is also a main property holder in the Fairbanks Mining Division in Alaska. The company holds interest in a number of properties in the region – the Gil, West Ridge, Fish Creek, and the Stepovich Properties – all of which are near or adjacent to Kinross Gold’s Fort Knox mine, the most prodigious gold-producing mine in Alaska, and the True North deposit, also owned by Kinross Gold.

Teryl has spent 1.6 million on exploration on the Gil property, and has defined a resource of 400,000 ounces of gold (10 million tons X 0.04 ounces per ton). The main zone that contains the resource reaches a thickness of 80 ft., and has been traced along a 2,500 ft. length.

The West Ridge property is 100% owned by Teryl, and anomalies of elevated gold in the soil show a presence of antimony and arsenic that is very similar to Kinross’ neighboring True North Deposit (which has a defined reserve of 616,000 ounces of gold at 0.046 ounces per ton gold). Thus far, Teryl has spent $350,000 on exploration of the property.

At the Fish Creek property – 50% owned by Teryl and adjacent to the north to the Gil property – an auger drill program has identified elevated gold presence that suggests that the Gil resource extends into the Fish Creek property.

“We also have some drill targets that we’re planning on drilling in that area,” comments John Roberston. Once deposits are defined, the ore will be readily processed at Kinross’ nearby mill.

Other Holdings

Teryl Resources also has joint venture silver properties, and ongoing revenue from oil and gas projects in Texas and Kentucky.

The Gaza Operation – What Hamas military targets did the IDF strike?

Posted on September 8th, 2010 in Uncategorized by admin

Consistent with the principle of distinction, IDF forces attacked military targets directly connected to Hamas and other terrorist organizations’ military activities against Israel. IDF forces targeted Hamas rocket launchers, weapons stockpiles, command and control facilities, weapons factories, explosives laboratories, training facilities and communications infrastructure, often concealed or embedded in civilian facilities such as residential buildings, schools, or mosques. In accordance with the Law of Armed Conflict, civilian facilities that served military purposes did not enjoy protection from attack. Below is an illustrative account of military targets struck by the IDF during the operation:

• Hamas’ bases, posts and headquarters:

Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades and Executive Force headquarters in the northern Gaza Strip (struck on December 27th) Headquarters and weapons store of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades at Tel Zaatar, in the Jabaliya area (struck on December 27th) Hamas’ Al-Islam post in the northern Gaza Strip (struck on December 27th) Hamas’ main headquarters compound in Gaza City (struck on December 27th) Hamas post and training camp in the central Gaza Strip (struck on 27 December 27th) Hamas training camp in the southern Gaza Strip (struck on December 27th). Headquarters and weapons storage belonging to the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades and the Special Force (struck on December 27th). An Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades training outpost in the Al-Maqusi towers in the northern Gaza Strip (struck on December 28th). Ismail Haniyah’s office in the Hamas compound in Gaza City (struck on December 31st).

• Hamas’ armament production and storage sites:

Research and development center in the Islamic University in Gaza (struck on December 28th): Hamas used the site to develop rockets with improved launching range. Throughout the operation, the IAF attacked dozens of workshops and weapon stores, many of them located in the houses of Hamas operatives and public buildings (including mosques).

• Rocket and mortar launch sites:

Throughout the operation, the IAF attacked areas regularly used to launch rockets and mortars against Israel.

• Smuggling tunnels:

Throughout the operation, IDF attacked dozens of tunnels along the Philadelphi route used for smuggling arms, ammunition and terrorist operatives, for terrorist attacks against Israel, from Sinai to the Gaza Strip.

• Mosques used by Hamas for military purposes:

A Mosque in the Tel al-Hawa neighborhood of Gaza City (struck on December 31st). The mosque served as an arms storage facility and a launching site for terrorist activity. The strike caused a long series of secondary explosions from armaments and ammunition that were stored in the mosque (including rockets, some of which were long-range Grad rockets). Al-Khulafa mosque in Jabaliya (struck on January 1st): The mosque was a focal point of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades’ terrorist activities. The strike on the mosque was followed by a long series of secondary explosions, indicating that a large quantity of hidden weapons and ammunition had been stockpiled in it.

It should be noted that Israeli forces have come under criticism from various international organizations for attacking a number of Hamas targets, such as various “ministries” operated by Hamas, which were alleged to be civilian in nature. Many of the ostensibly civilian elements of the Hamas regime are in reality active components of its terrorist and military efforts. The IDF made the determination that the attacks were lawful under international law. All of these strikes were carefully planned and executed in a manner that minimized the risk to civilians.

You Have Questions We Have Answers on Jet Charter

Posted on September 8th, 2010 in Google Trendz by admin

You might have decided to go for jet charter for one of the reasons that are most pertinent.  For instance a reason may be that you require frequent travel overseas or to some distance places and aircraft journey could be the most convenient for you. Conversely you might be requiring the jet charter services to cater to your requirements of dealing with your guests and prized customers and arranging for their transportation in and out of the destination point.

A few technical questions –

You will certainly like to have some idea about the terminologies and their meaning that you would encounter quite frequently during your jet charter.  Cruise speed for example is the normal speed that is attained by your aircraft at the altitude where it makes a stable flight. Your jet charter is called to have attained dead head when on the return flight it is sans cargo as well as passenger.  In fact there was a time when to hide the disastrous condition of the aircraft without any passenger the family of the crew used to be strapped on the empty seats to show that the aircraft is full of passenger and the business is flourishing.

Empty leg on the other hand refers to a condition which means “one way availability”.   This means the aircraft or the jet charter is available for flight between two destination points for a certain specified period since during that period it does not carry pre-fixed cargo or passenger. On the other hand the term “leg” refers to one direction between the two particular travel points.

About private jet charter –

Premier factors that would influence your decision on the private jet charter are safety of the passengers and crew, your convenience and to see to it that the jet charter fulfils your objective perfectly.  There are some well reputed and extremely efficient private jet charter companies who have wide spread out networks of charter flights.  Such charter flights could range from the ordinary to luxury flights. Some of the brokers are so fast that they can provide you with the required jet charter to any given destination of the world virtually in no time.

Once you decided to go for private jet charters you will have also to verify the private jet charter quotes.

Good companies that arrange jet charters for you normally do not charge any membership fees, cost of acquisition, or even the monthly maintenance charges. This makes your private jet charter quotes ideal and reservation easier. The added advantage of going for professional experts is that they will arrange for your jet charter irrespective of the size and formation of your trip party.

Special attractions to influence the potential customer –

To attract the potential customers, special attractions are offered by the manufacturing or dealing companies. There are companies who have thousands of aircrafts to offer and yet they come up with special offers like sky cards and others to impress the potential customers.  Some others assure you availability of jet charter at only four hours prior notice and this seems quite relaxing and reasonable in the competitive world to day.

A whole new avenue will open up before you. The website gives you comprehensive information on jet charter, private jet charter, private jet charter quote, and jet charters. Log on to the website and enjoy all information.

US Open Golf 2010

After half a year of catharsis for Tiger Woods, a product of his infidelities, doubts about the fitness of the best golfers in the world still unresolved at the gates of the U.S. Open.

As much as the Indian players like Arjun Atwal, one of the most cigarettes, ‘he borrowed’ in the Pro-Am, Tiger said after training with the California is very close to his best, nobody puts their hand in favor the fire as before. U.S. Open Golf 2010 started in California.

The second tournament of ‘Grand Slam’ year’s extraordinary return to Pebble Beach (California), where they also compete five Spanish from the discretion (Garcia, Quirós Jiménez, Cabrera and Paul Martin), an upward Colombian Camilo Villegas, and two Argentine Rafa Echenique and Angel Cabrera, the last champion three years ago.

Tiger won the Open a decade ago at Pebble Beach with a lead record 15 strokes. Since that historic date, the star enlarged proportions and income multiplied exponentially and titles. Tiger Woods is Back at U.S. Open Golf 2010.

Nothing seemed to stop the best-paid athlete in the world until, in the run-up last Christmas, a message “fish” on your mobile phone to his wife serve to pull the thread and discover that her husband was unfaithful. I like U.S. Open Golf 2010.

The “soap opera” weakened the empire after Tiger Woods. Sponsors, wife and even the coach is deflated, as did the muscles of the golfer who seeks to exceed 18 “Big” Jack Nicklaus (Tiger sum fourteen).

The reappearance of Tiger in April, with a fourth place in the Masters, he could end speculation about the impact on their “swing” of that bump huge. I love to watch U.S. Open Golf 2010 live.

However, in early May missed the cut at Quail Hollow, a week after he retired in the final round of The Players at Sawgrass, forced by a neck injury and was only two weeks ago nineteenth in the Memorial.

Parallel to this power drain, lefty Phil Mickelson won the last Masters and looks at Pebble Beach as a favorite.

The American press has changed the term “Tiger Slam” by “Mickel-Slam.” Mickelson can win his fourth major ‘and first U.S. Open. The world’s best left-hander, who turns 40 on Thursday, has never won this second “Great” of the year, but finished second five times.

Life and golf are these rollovers. Mickelson is now the favorite, and is facing its best chance to unseat Tiger and become the first world number one. The victory, and even a second if Tiger is not in the top four are a few of your options. I will watch U.S. Open Golf 2010 live on my fom today.

Outbreaks also illuminate the popularity of English now face Lee Westwood, third in the world ranking and the best hope to reissue the triumph of countryman Tony Jacklin in 1970, the last for a European golfer.

Tiger surpassed in 17 blows to Westwood in their best version of the U.S. Open in that year 2000.

Currently dictates not only that Westwood has to win his first tournament last week in the PGA Tour in twelve years (St. Jude Classic in Memphis), but could overtake Mickelson’s second place in the world rankings if he can overcome and left-hander has just one fifth or worse.

To raise the interest of the tournament, Westwood and Tiger star in the first major party pulses by sharing the first two rounds, along with South African Ernie Els, who won the U.S. Open in 1994 and 1997

Liberals Ask, “Was It Over When The Germans Bombed Pearl Harbor?”

Posted on September 8th, 2010 in Google Trendz by admin

Any connoisseur of quintessential American comedic culture has seen the film Animal House and is intimately familiar with the exploits of Delta Tau Chi House at Faber College.  As the, “worst house on campus,” the fraternity is an assortment of slackers, misfits and childish sorts more interested in debauchery and partying than learning.  Because of this the Deltas run afoul of the College administration time and again and are expelled.

This leads up to a climatic, impassioned but ultimately ignorant speech by John “Bluto” Blutarsky in which he tries to rally the Deltas to go out with a bang.  During that speech is when he utters the iconic phrase of stupidity, which sums up so neatly why the Deltas were being expelled, “Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?  Hell no!”  Bluto then charges out of the Fraternity House and half-heartedly the rest of the members eventually follow.  They then proceed to wreak havoc during the College’s annual homecoming parade destroying property and committing mischief.

This scene resembles remarkably well the way liberals act in real life and nothing illustrates this better than the recent case of McDonald v. Chicago where the onerous gun ban imposed by the City of Chicago was successfully challenged and struck down by the United States Supreme Court.  The reason the city of Chicago lost the case is obvious to anyone more interested in the truth and who has not spent their time seeking out in debauchery while partying on the tax payer’s dime.  Mayor Richard Daley however is not such a person.

The City of Chicago lost the case because despite years liberals who are unkind to liberty trying desperately to rewrite the meaning of the Second Amendment to our Federal Constitution into some non-individual right and only a right of the state they were unsuccessful.  In defiance of the case’s outcome Mayor Richard “Bluto” Daley essentially stood up and made his own ignorant proclamation that this was not over.  He has promised a new gun law which will be, by his own admission, a burdensome mishmash regulations designed to allow gun ownership but only after applicants have jumped though a myriad of hoops and paid some hefty fees to the coffers.  What he will ultimately try to establish is a way to skirt the rights and privileges of Chicago residents by allowing them to technically own guns but to make doing so so difficult that so that few, if any, will be able to meet all the requirements he will set forth.

This is not unusual for the political left to act this way.  Their entire philosophy is that anything they want, regardless of its legitimacy, will be the law and if they don’t get their way it will be Hell on Earth until they get it.  Only laws that they like when upheld are, “settled law,” and beyond challenge.  Laws they do not like when upheld must be gotten around at all costs setting up another challenge and another loss for them and another new and innovative way to try and get around the ruling.

Now liberals, when I talk about how they act this way, usually come back with a response similar to, “Well, you conservatives do the same thing!”  They will talk about how we have fought against court decisions like Roe v. Wade or even continued to fight against Campaign Finance Reform even after the Supreme Court upheld most of the law as a-ok despite rejecting parts of it.  But just like the Delta’s who wallow in ignorance, so to do liberals that try this argument.

The difference between conservatives who fight against court rulings like Roe v. Wade and liberals who fight against rulings like those in McDonald v. Chicago is that rulings like Roe v. Wade ignore the Constitution and basic inalienable rights of all mankind.  On the other hand rulings like McDonald v. Chicago embrace these basic things.  When a conservative argues against Roe v. Wade it is from the stand point that our Constitution specifically states that all persons are entitled to the right to life and that that life may not be taken without due process of law.  Of course liberals, who ignore basic biology, argue that the human fetus is not human life so aborting (i.e. murdering) them is just a fine thing to do.  But what I find is that when I lock eyes with these sad sacks who think this and when I run down the biological definition of life with them and show how from the moment an egg is fertilized inside the mother’s womb that “lump of cells” is indeed human life one of two things happens.  Either they start yelling wildly calling me everything from a NAZI to a woman hater trying to filibuster the rest of the conversation or they start to quickly look for a way to simply escape the conversation all together and stop listening to the truth.

Summary: Conservatives argue for the Constitution and the inalienable rights of all persons when they stand up against rulings like Roe v. Wade.

Now compare that to liberals who argue that it ok for the government to either outright prohibit law abiding citizens from owning guns or making it so difficult for them to own guns that they might as well just have banned them in the first place.  This approach violates the clear meaning of the Second Amendment to the Constitution which specifically states that the people, not the states, and not the federal government, have the right to keep and bear arms.

Summary: Liberals who take this stance are arguing against the Constitution and the inalienable rights of all persons when they stand up against rulings like McDonald v. Chicago.

Now of course liberals hate it when I point things out like this because their image of themselves is as that of a champion of the rights of the people.  But time and again, when you actually look at what they defend as right you see that they are doing just the exact opposite.  Chicago has, for years, had restrictive gun laws meant to keep crime down.  Yet in 2009, at the height of these policies, 36 Chicago Public School students had been murdered during the current school year as of May 13th of that year.  The City had the grand distinction under the gun ban that liberals love so much and tout as such a great thing as having the highest youth homicide rate in the nation.  So obviously the gun ban is not operating as intended.  Now of course liberals like Mayor Bluto … I mean Daley … will tell us that the murder rate would be even higher if not for their gun bans.  That is always their claim which is to make some nebulous statement about how things would be worse if not for their tyrannical leadership and which makes them, in their own minds, seem competent.

Of course there is still rampant gun related crime in Chicago despite the now shot down, pun intended, gun ban which proves the old axiom that criminals do not obey laws and that the only thing that laws like the Chicago gun ban did was infringe on the rights of law abiding citizens.  But it is not such logic that the liberals are concerned with.  They are just concerning with wreaking havoc and they will do and say anything that comes to their minds in order to get people to rally to their side.  Yes, they will even rail about the Germans bombing Pearl Harbor if they have to and if they think that people would follow them into battle against those stuffy old coots who actually think the Constitution and inalienable rights are important.

College Football Wrap-Up Week 3 – Dream Season Ends for Southern Cal, Brigham Young and Utah

Posted on September 8th, 2010 in Google Trendz by admin

Copyright © 2009 Ed Bagley

(Editor’s Note: The rankings in this article are from the AP Top 25 Poll of sportswriters and sportscasters, and the ratings are from Jeff Sagarin.)

The great difference why watching college football games is so much more enjoyable than watching pro football is not because it is exciting—heck, pro football can be exciting too—it’s because college football is much more unpredictable. College football’s third week of action is an excellent example.

The fortunes of four teams—Southern California, Brigham Young, Utah and Georgia Tech—changed dramatically after losing this week.

Third-ranked USC, which beat San Jose State 56-3 at home and Ohio State 18-15 away in its first two games, flew north to Seattle and lost 16-13 to a Washington Husky team that was 0-12 last season. The Trojans lost because Steve Sarkisian, Washington’s energetic new head coach, and Nick Holt, Washington’s excitable new defensive coordinator, played key roles for USC last season; Sarkisian was offensive coordinator for the Trojans and Holt was the defensive coordinator.

Washington started its season by playing hard and losing to 9th-ranked Louisiana State, 31-24, before knocking off Idaho 42-23 to record its first win in 16 games. The Huskies now believe they can win and, believe you me, USC now knows they can get embarrassed by a team that believes they can win.

Washington’s Huskies were rewarded for their effort by jumping into the AP Top 25 Poll at No. 24. USC dropped from 3rd to 12th in the same AP Poll. Washington’s Sagarin rating also jumped 39 places in 7 days—from 63 to 24.

Seventh-ranked Brigham Young started its season by upsetting Oklahoma 14-13, and then trashed Tulane, 54-3. Unfortunately, unranked Florida State, which managed to get beaten by Miami (FL) 38-34 in its opener at home, and then slip by lowly Jacksonville State 19-9 at home, traveled to BYU and stung the Cougars, 54-28. BYU dropped to 19th the AP Poll.

Eighteenth-ranked Utah, which was the only undefeated major college football team last year at 13-0, slipped by Utah State 35-17 and San Jose State 24-14 before traveling to unranked Oregon and getting upset, 31-24.

Fourteenth-ranked Georgia Tech opened its season by looking unimpressive with a win over lowly Jacksonville State 37-17, and barely getting past Clemson 30-27, but found the going much tougher against No. 20 Miami (FL), losing 33-17. The Yellow Jackets dropped right out of the AP Poll, and Miami rocketed up from 20th to 9th.

Unpredictable? You bet. The chances of USC, BYU, Utah or Georgia Tech playing in the National Championship Game this year are probably nil; all of them were undefeated last week.

Here are 11 ranked teams that won and are now 3-0 and moving on:

No. 1 Florida at home over SEC opponent Tennessee 23-13. No. 2 Texas at home over Texas Tech 34-24; Texas Tech was the only team to beat Texas last year. No. 4 Alabama at home over lowly, 124th-ranked North Texas, 53-7. No. 5 Penn State at home over lowly, 125th-ranked Temple, 31-6. No. 8 California on-the-road over Minnesota, 35-21. No. 9 LSU at home over in-state rival LA-Lafayette, 31-3. No. 10 Boise State on-the-road over Fresno State, 51-34.

No. 17 Cincinnati on-the-road over Oregon State, 28-18. No. 22 Kansas at home over Duke, 44-16. No. 24 North Carolina at home over in-state rival East Carolina, 31-17. No. 25 Michigan at home over in-state rival Eastern Michigan, 45-17.

Six other ranked teams won. No. 5 Mississippi (now 2-0 and tied with Penn State at No. 5) at home beat lowly, 167th-ranked, 1-AA Southeastern Louisiana, 52-6; and TCU (now 2-0) at home beat lowly, 137th-ranked, 1-AA Texas State San Marcos, 56-21. No. 11 Ohio State on-the-road over No. 105-ranked Toledo, 38-0.

No. 12 Oklahoma, after being upset by BYU 14-13 in its opener, is trying to win back votes with shutouts over #178th-ranked Idaho State 64-0, and now Tulsa, 45-0. No. 16 Oklahoma State (now 2-1) at home over winless, 155th-ranked Rice, 41-24. No. 23 Georgia (now 2-1) on-the-road over Arkansas in a really ugly win, 52-41.

The Georgia-Arkansas game was almost as bad as Notre Dame’s home victory over Michigan State, 33-30. All four of these teams are not that good, and you can tell that by the scores—none of them have a defense worth talking about at the moment. They could all get better in future weeks, but right now none of them are nearly as good as advertised.

Nine other unranked teams quietly went to 3-0 this week, any or all of them could keep winning and move into the AP Top 25 Poll soon. They include:

Southern Mississippi at home barely over Virginia, 37-34. Colorado State at home over Nevada, 35-20. Pittsburgh at home over Navy, 27-14. Iowa at home over Arizona, 27-17. Auburn at home over West Virginia, 41-30. UCLA at home over Kansas State, 23-9. Wisconsin at home over 102nd-ranked, 1-AA Wofford, 44-14. Missouri at home over 120th-ranked, 1-AA Furman, 52-12. South Florida at home over lowly, 162nd-ranked, 1-AA Charleston Southern, 59-0.

Seven teams should not have been on the same field with their opponent this week because absolutely none of them had any real chance of winning. They included North Texas, Temple, Eastern Michigan, Southeastern Louisiana, Texas State San Marcos, Rice, and Charleston Southern.

The biggest winner of the week? It’s the Washington Huskies, hands down. Their 16-13 victory over USA ranks as the greatest upset by Washington’s football program in school history. Washington just may become the biggest surprise of the season.

Footballer Profile – Theo Walcott

Posted on September 8th, 2010 in Google Trendz by admin

There can’t be many players, if any, who have been selected for a World Cup squad before they have made their Premier League debut. If it comes to that, there can’t be many who have been transferred for something like £5 million pounds after making just 21 appearances in the Football league Championship.

And when you remember that the transfer from Southampton to Arsenal came when Theo Walcott was only 16 years old and he was a mere17 at the time of the World Cup call-up, you’ll have some idea of the impact this player had.

Certainly anybody who had seen some of the fantastic goals that Theo Walcott had scored for Southampton wouldn’t have been in the least surprised. From the minute he made his debut – at Elland Road against Leeds of all places – he looked completely at home; scoring in his first three league games, in fact. It was his pace that caught the eye first. Then his ability to control the ball whilst running at speed. Even his positional awareness seemed far beyond his years. Not forgetting that priceless ability to be able to put the ball into the back of the net.

By the time Theo had signed for Arsenal, he had shown just why Nike had decided to sponsor him when he was only 14 years old.

I suppose everybody, probably including the player himself, fully expected Walcott to have a few years in Arsenal’s abundantly talented reserve squad, with a few League Cup games helping him make the next step up. It was when Sven-Goran Erikkson saw the player in training, though, that he decided to take him to the 2006 World Cup – ahead of established Premier League goalscorers such as Jermaine Defoe.

Of course, none of the controversy that followed Walcott into the summer tournament had anything to do with the player himself – and must have been very difficult for such a young man to cope with. Never have as many cameras seemed to focus on a player who didn’t even get on the pitch – and then he had to come back to try to establish himself at Arsenal.

To his credit, Theo Walcott always behaved in a totally professional manner and, upon his return to London, after making his first team Premier League debut as substitute on the first day of the season. From then on, he went from strength to strength – both literally and metaphorically. The young, fragile Walcott was physically developing and his mental strength was also clearly apparent.

Mainly operating on the right wing, Walcott gradually began making a greater impact on Arsenal matches and, by September 2008, his career had progressed enough for him to be selected for his country in a World Cup Qualifying match against Andorra. It was, though, in the stunning away victory in Croatia when the hat-trick scoring forward’s class totally shone out.

Just when it looked as if he was going to fully cement his position for both club and country, however, a shoulder dislocation led to four months out of the game. Although he returned to score important goals in the Champions League against Villarreal and Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final, this season has seen further disruption. Apparently, Theo has been spending some of his time developing his skills as a children’s author; having signed a contract to write two stories about a schoolboy superhero – who it just so happens is a footballer.

At the time of writing, Theo Walcott has just successfully finished his first full game of the season for Arsenal – in the Champions League against Olympia – and everyone at the club, as well as every England supporter, will be hoping he can quickly show the kind of form that will get him into another World Cup squad. This time, though, he ought to get on the pitch.

Lebron James, Lindsay Lohan and Mary Harada

Posted on September 8th, 2010 in Google Trendz by admin

If you watch the news, you may be as sick of hearing about Lebron James and Lindsay Lohan as I am. Mary Harada, on the other hand, is another story — one worth hearing about. Her story is actually inspiring; it will lift your spirits. Mary is one of four septuagenarian athletes who have turned in athletic perfromances this summer that are genuinely deserving of headlines. Here are their stories.

First up, is 70-year-old Dr. John Williams of New Brunswick, Canada. Dr. Williams, a Mixed Martial Arts fighter, got in a cage to fight former pro-wrestler, Larry Brubaker, 49, as part of the “Wild Card” event for Elite 1 MMA Productions on July 24 at the Casino New-Nouveau Brunswick in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada. This was not some publicity stunt; this was a real cage fight which Dr. Williams won in the second round with ankle-lock submission. This makes Dr. John Williams the world’s oldest MMA cage fighter.

Dr. Williams started his martial arts and boxing career back in 1947 as a seven-year-old. Over the years he’s continued to study and master various martial art forms, including Kodokan Judo, Tani-Ha Jiu-Jitsu and Taekwondo, Hapkido and Kyokushinkai Karate. As a young man he did strongman demonstrations in which he bent spikes, tore telephone books and performed other impressive feats of strength. In his late fifties he set a Guinness world record for breaking an 11-inch thick stack of ice slabs (a record that still stands). AND, all the more impressive, in an interview for this summer’s match he said, “I’m just as strong as I was 40 years ago.” Now, that’s saying something.

Dr. Williams’ fight was a test of his martial arts skills. It was a chance for him to show the world that “age is just a number.” He could show us that falling apart as we age is merely an option, because he has continued to train in his later years as he did in his earlier years.

Now let’s shift our focus to middle distance running where we’ll look at what some women in their seventies have done this summer to push back the limiting boundaries of age. At the Hayward Classic track and field meet in Eugene, Oregon earlier this summer, professor emerita and grandmother, Mary Harada, 75, set a World and American Record in the mile run. Her 7:55.74 annihilated the former record of 8:16.3 set by Suzi MacLeod just last year. Speaking of Suzi MacLeod, at this same meet, Suzi bettered the 21-year-old American Record for 800 meters (3:37.19 by Pearl Mehl in 1989) with a time of 3:35.22 — a 7:10-per-mile pace — not too bad for a 75-year-old!

A little more about Mary Harada is in order. She’s had a good summer of running because besides her mile World Record run, she set a new American Record in the 5000 meters, too. At the USA Outdoor Masters Championships in Sacramento, California in July, she posted a 26:55.11 in this event, crushing the former record which had stood for 19 years (27:10.76 by Algene Williams in 1991) by over 15 seconds, and averaging 8:39 per mile for the 3.1-mile race. Oh, and she does all this despite having asthma, for which she must take medication; during a recent one-mile race she wheezed and gasped her way through the last three laps to a new World Record she’s since broken.

Mary is able to break these records because she takes care of her body and trains intelligently; that is, she doesn’t try to overdo, which she has found leads to injuries. In this light, she only runs four times per week, with a long run of eight miles. Her runs include some speedwork on the track and maybe a little hill work. Hitting the gym for some strength work is also a part of her typical week, as are core work (Pilates …) and some stretching at home. Her diet includes a lot of white rice and vegetables (she’s married to a japanese man), small portions of meat and fish and dark chocolate (desserts, however, are not a regular fixture of their meals).

Mary’s 75-79 age-group records may not last long, because 73-year-old Fayetteville, Georgia’s running phenom Jeanne Daprano will be aiming at them in just two years. Meanwhile, Jeanne, at the Bob Boal classic in Raleigh, North Carolina in June, ran a blistering 7:01.29 mile. That time turns out to be an age-graded 100.29% (in this rating system, 100% is equivalent to a World Record in one’s prime). This was the highest age-graded performance score of the whole track meet.

There you have it – four men and women athletes in their seventies who are actually worthy of headlines and challenging the rest of us to get off the sofa and live life to the fullest. They are all having fun — the time of their lives – smashing through age barriers that the rest of us think are real. They are faster and stronger than people decades younger, something which is — due to the edicts of “aging” – not supposed to be possible.
